On the Brink of Homelessness

Hey guys…

I found out yesterday that I cannot stay in the duplex once Ben moves to Utah with his dad. Apparently someone else was interested in renting the place, and his boss basically rented out to them instead of me. He knew that I’ve been there for months and contribute to rent and utilities when I can. He knew that I had no other place to go. And yet, he still cheated me out.

Earlier this week, Ben gave his boss his two-week notice. I was going to wait until Tuesday to let his boss know that I was interested out of respect; I didn’t want to add more stress on him and wanted to give him time to cool off.

Supposedly, the reason he didn’t want to rent out to me was because I smoke (yes, still) and I have long hair; if he did rent out to me, he’d supposedly jack up the rent out of spite. First off, I always step outside if I want a cig; I’ve never smoked inside the duplex. Secondly, I didn’t know I had to look a certain way to rent out a place that, I’ll admit, is falling apart and over half the outlets aren’t grounded. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if he said “No” if he knew I was bisexual. So, after all this, I’m not going to rent out from this asshole at all, nor shop at the Ace Hardware he owns; he’s not having my money, that’s for sure.

So now I need to scramble for a place to live. I do plan on stopping by this place called Southwest C.A.P. (Community Action Program) on Tuesday, since I’d imagine they’ll be closed on Labor Day. Ben went through them before and says they’d pay the first three months’ rent once they help me find an apartment. In the mean time, I’m going to see what options there are in town that are cheap and have one or both utilities included; I’ll have less to worry about and I’d rather pay rent and utilities in one lump sum. I would like a single-bedroom or studio apartment, if I can find one; I’d imagine they’re cheaper and…I like my space and privacy.

Oh, and did I mention I start classes next week? Granted, I’m only taking two and I don’t have any on Tuesday, though I do start my new job that afternoon. Still…I’m so tired of all this; just seems like as soon as things start looking up, I get hit with something else as soon as I feel happy about my life.

Apparently this is the kind of life my mom wanted for me…

More than a passing grade

Well, finished up yet another semester at Platteville, but still not a graduate quite yet; only a couple more classes to go before that can be a reality. This past semester was another rough one though, for a few reasons:

  • I missed out on the Fall semester prior, so it took me some time to get back into the school mindset again.
  • I ended up switching out one class with one called “Personalized Learning Experience,” which I’ll go more into detail later.
  • Between this new course and my other courses, I ended up getting piled on with projects, along with preparing for any exams or quizzes.
  • There were also some life issues that occurred throughout the semester; so those didn’t help any.

However, I am glad that I did pass most of my classes and my GPA hardly changed. I am also happy at the response I got from my advisor about the paper I wrote for my Personalized Learning Experience (PLE) course. All I did for this course was picked a topic, researched it, and wrote a paper on it. If I did it and did it well, I passed; if I didn’t do it well, or not at all, I failed. What I ended up getting was more than a passing grade; I got an opportunity. Continue reading

Ornithology class outing to Mound View Park

On occasion, I have the opportunity to go on bird outings with my Ornithology class. We are required to write and submit three field journal entries as part of the course, whether it be from our own observations or during a class outing. Since this would typically be something I’d post on this blog, I figured I’d share this with you guys verbatim. There were some requirements to the assignment, one of them being to give the proper common and scientific names of any birds we mention. Other than that, this is a nice and causal assignment that I thoroughly enjoyed writing.

Hope you all enjoy and possibly learn a little something while reading this! Continue reading

March 17, 2017 (RANT)

This week…this week has been a mess and I’m glad it’s done and over with now. It goes without saying I never had much of a chance to really enjoy my Spring Break to relax and catch up on schoolwork. I did hang out with…one of my friends for not even a full day, and that’s about all the fun I had this week.

Why? Because I had to help my mom move all her shit from her apartment into a storage locker or my grandma’s trailer. A lot of this stuff she’s never sorted through at all or barely, and so much of my family has told her to go through it. We’ve also moved several times in the past, so it’s not like she didn’t have an opportunity to really get rid of shit she doesn’t need. Sometimes, I fear she’s a bit of a hoarder and is afraid to let things go. It’s sad and it sucks, but stuff piles up fast and it gets to point where you need to go through it before it gets worse and not add to the pile. It’s not bad right now, but it could be worse…a lot worse.

Feb. 10, 2017

Hey guys, I’ve been gone a while, haven’t I? That shouldn’t be new, honestly; I’ve been quite busy and have had a lot on my mind for the past month or so.

One culprit would definitely have to be college. Yep, finally started that up again a couple weeks ago. Already I feel busy with assignments, many of which are long-term, research projects, which would be understandable at this point in my college career. I currently have two research projects I need to think of a topic/get on the ball with doing research ASAP, plus I have a lot of reading to do for two other classes. Not to mention, there’s exams coming up soon and I need to start getting prepared for those. It’s just been so hard getting back into that mindset after being gone for the summer, fall, and beginning of winter. Continue reading

Aug. 13, 2016

It’s been a while, hasn’t it?

I haven’t had much time to share any life updates on this blog between work and being busy almost every weekend this summer. I’ve also been focusing more on writing and trying to write as often as I can; I would like to try and post more often on my story and poetry blogs and elsewhere. That’s not to say I’ll lower the quality of my writing, however; I always strive to improve in my craft with each piece I write.

Along with that, there hasn’t been much else happening in my life right now. I’m currently unable to go back to Platteville in the Fall, for multiple reasons, but I will be going back in the Spring. I only have one semester left until I graduate; after that, who knows what will happen next. For the time being, I’ll still be working at Milton Propane through the Fall and possibly early Winter.

My boyfriend and I have been together for five months now as of Thursday. We’ve had our ups and downs, sure, but I think it’s safe to say our relationship is still going steady. We’re still trying to figure things out, both as individuals and as a couple; there are still a few kinks (not those kind!) we’re working out too, but all of that will come in time and effort. Regardless, we both still love each other very much and would like to live together some day.

I will also being going to a couple furry conventions in the near future: Furry Migration in Minneapolis, MN, and Midwest FurFest in Rosemont, IL. Of course, I will going with my boyfriend, but a couple of our other friends will be joining us as well; I know both of them will be a blast!

And that’s about it. I wanted to give you guys a quick update with what I’ve been up to and how I’ve been lately.

~Ben

Two Months!

I can’t believe it’s been two months since me and my boyfriend, Wolfletech, have been together! I’m still thankful to have him in my life, and I hope we can keep this going onto three months!

Anyway, below is all what we did for our two-month anniversary. Continue reading

April 18, 2016

I’ve been meaning to give you guys a life update of sorts, considering the last one was when me and my boyfriend went on our second date. Not a whole lot has been happening on that front, but a lot of other stuff’s happened since then. Continue reading
