Basically me mulling over some things and just wanting to get it all out of my system. Feel free to comment or message me about this if you wish, even though I know I’ll sound like a broken record having to explain the same thing over and over and over again to everyone who does. Continue reading

In a way, you could say this is my follow-up post to Fur Squared 2018. All in all, I had a great time at the con and was glad to meet and hang out with a few people I haven’t seen in a while, along with meeting a few new people. To be honest, my main goal for this con was just that.
As much as I would’ve loved to have Sponsored or Super Sponsored this con, things weren’t going great for me, financially, prior to this past weekend. However, after I was hired on to permanent employment status at Emmi Roth (a cheese factory I work at here in town), I gained a better pay rate, benefits, and paid time off; so, in the end, things worked out for me enough that I could at least attend. I believe this makes my second year where I had to register at the door, the first year being…well my very first Fur Squared and furry con back in 2015. Otherwise, I would’ve pre-registered as a Sponsor or Super Sponsor. I feel I’ve been attending this con enough times where I know it’ll be a good con each year, and I want to help it grow. I’m finally living on my own in my own place and have a full-time job at a cheese factory that, while it does pay decent, it’s just barely enough to cover bills and groceries. I’ve also been writing much more often than I did this past summer and back in September after I opened up for story commissions.
It’s not the best situation, financially speaking, but I’m perfectly content with where I’m at…except for one thing.
Have I wasted six years of my life with college? Continue reading
Well, finished up yet another semester at Platteville, but still not a graduate quite yet; only a couple more classes to go before that can be a reality. This past semester was another rough one though, for a few reasons:
- I missed out on the Fall semester prior, so it took me some time to get back into the school mindset again.
- I ended up switching out one class with one called “Personalized Learning Experience,” which I’ll go more into detail later.
- Between this new course and my other courses, I ended up getting piled on with projects, along with preparing for any exams or quizzes.
- There were also some life issues that occurred throughout the semester; so those didn’t help any.
However, I am glad that I did pass most of my classes and my GPA hardly changed. I am also happy at the response I got from my advisor about the paper I wrote for my Personalized Learning Experience (PLE) course. All I did for this course was picked a topic, researched it, and wrote a paper on it. If I did it and did it well, I passed; if I didn’t do it well, or not at all, I failed. What I ended up getting was more than a passing grade; I got an opportunity. Continue reading
Someone on Furry Amino proposed #SonaSunday as an alternative for those who can’t do #FursuitFriday. It’s basically a way for furries to show off their fursonas in whatever way they choose, be it a small gallery of art of their sona, a story, a Q&A, or whatever they like. I decided to use my favorite commission (which I admit I share around way too much) and cleaned up a quick write-up I did where I expressed my frustrations with writing. I think I wrote it a number of months ago (I mention Wolfletech being my boyfriend), but I like it; it’s a good day-in-the-life type of scene for Ricky.
I don’t consider this something I’d put in my writing portfolio/gallery/whatever you want to call it. My intention behind Ricky is for me to portray myself in the furry fandom as true to myself as possible, flaws and all. He has the same personality, goals, dreams, habits, vices, and background as me, though I admit to taking some creative liberties when I wrote his bio.
Anyway, hope you enjoy this small window into a beginning writer’s life. Continue reading
It seems to have been a while since I wrote a general life update; the earliest I could find was back in August. Yes, it’s been over a month, but quite a lot can happen in that time. Well, for me, only a couple things, though both big changes. Continue reading
It’s been a while, hasn’t it?
I haven’t had much time to share any life updates on this blog between work and being busy almost every weekend this summer. I’ve also been focusing more on writing and trying to write as often as I can; I would like to try and post more often on my story and poetry blogs and elsewhere. That’s not to say I’ll lower the quality of my writing, however; I always strive to improve in my craft with each piece I write.
Along with that, there hasn’t been much else happening in my life right now. I’m currently unable to go back to Platteville in the Fall, for multiple reasons, but I will be going back in the Spring. I only have one semester left until I graduate; after that, who knows what will happen next. For the time being, I’ll still be working at Milton Propane through the Fall and possibly early Winter.
My boyfriend and I have been together for five months now as of Thursday. We’ve had our ups and downs, sure, but I think it’s safe to say our relationship is still going steady. We’re still trying to figure things out, both as individuals and as a couple; there are still a few kinks (not those kind!) we’re working out too, but all of that will come in time and effort. Regardless, we both still love each other very much and would like to live together some day.
I will also being going to a couple furry conventions in the near future: Furry Migration in Minneapolis, MN, and Midwest FurFest in Rosemont, IL. Of course, I will going with my boyfriend, but a couple of our other friends will be joining us as well; I know both of them will be a blast!
And that’s about it. I wanted to give you guys a quick update with what I’ve been up to and how I’ve been lately.
Hope everyone’s been having a good holiday season so far! I know this time of year can be joyful for most, but there are some who don’t always feel that way around this time of year. Whether they simply don’t like the commercialized clusterfuck of the season, they simply don’t celebrate the holidays, or they associate this time of year with a bad memory. To those of you, I hope you are having a good week. Continue reading
Hey everyone, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve been quite busy lately with college and whatnot, especially these past few weekends. One weekend I went home to help my mom pack for our move, the two weekends after was Ponyville Ciderfest, then Thanksgiving Break weekend. Just now I finally have a weekend where I’m not busy. Granted I do have one graduation party tomorrow night, but that’s all really.
As of writing this, my Labor Day has been pretty chill so far. Right now, I’m hanging out with my friend, Ben L. at a local coffee shop called Badger Brothers for a write meet. We were here last night too, and it was our first time doing so; I don’t know how often this will happen or if we stay at the same place, but I hope to at least have a write meet with him on a weekly basis. Who knows? Maybe we’ll find others to join us. Continue reading
